Before we know it, Spring will already be here. Many will have given up on their New Year’s resolutions. Fight your procrastination, and make this year the year to TAKE CHARGE, TAKE CONTROL of your life with GOALS. Without taking action, nothing happens. Live by design rather than circumstances.
Implement the following things to keep you on track as you design your life:
You must know your “WHY” and make that the basis of your goals. If you are not sure what your “WHY” is, think about what makes you get out of bed every morning, who or what makes you smile the most or you care about the most. It is whoever or whatever touches your inner spirit the most. You will find it is so much bigger than you and never about you. You will quit on you. Your “WHY” will keep you motivated and get you through the hard times.
Know what you need to do in order to support or accomplish your “WHY.” These are your goals. Write them down! A goal, if simply kept in your mind is a notion – and we change our minds all the time. As another rule, they must be “S-M-A-R-T” – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound.
Visualize Your Goals. I actually had fun with my wife as we each created our own vision board. Keeping your goals in front of you subconsciously orients you toward the things that will help you achieve your goals, and seeing someone else’s goals helps you support their vision as well. It can also be an eye opener as to what is really important to them.
Break down your goals with timeframes and mini-goals. One step at a time is much less intimidating than one giant leap forward. Plan each day, and make sure to include personal and family quality time. Remember, “Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”
