1. Ask for References
When you meet with a potential real estate agent, ask them for references and what they have listed and sold in the last year. Also ask how long the homes were on the market and what prices they were listed and sold for.
2. Verify Their License
Different states have different licenses. Check to make sure your potential real estate agent is licensed. You can also see if there have been any complaints filed or disciplinary actions.
3. Check for Certifications
Some real estate agents have specialized credentials, just like other professions, meaning they have additional training. Ask a real estate agent if they have any designations, such as Certified Residential Specialist, Accredited Buyer’s Representative, and Seniors Real Estate Specialist.
4. Learn About Their Experience
Try to find a real estate agent that has at least five years of experience. Also ask them about what kind of market conditions they have navigated and what their strategies are. You may want to look for an agent who specializes in working in your ideal neighborhood or city.
