How To Cultivate Happy HabitsMost of us would love to experience happiness on a more consistent basis, preferably every day. Just telling people to “be happy” doesn’t always go over that well. Sometimes they are struggling with depression, loneliness, boredom, and so on. They don’t want to struggle with the negative emotions, but they don’t really know how to get out from under them.

If this pertains to you and you’d like to experience more happiness each day, understand that oftentimes in life it’s not so much circumstances that cause happy feelings, but an attitude and a choice. Unfortunate things will occur. People will let you down. Things won’t go as planned, but all of that doesn’t mean that you have to suffer. As the old saying goes, “Pain will come, but suffering is optional.”

As you move throughout your life journey, take the following tips into consideration, so that you can experience more happiness each day.

  1. Spend Daily Time in Quiet

Take a few minutes each day to sit quietly and focus on your breath. Meditation is an excellent way to bring calmness and joy to your life. After all, many times what brings unhappiness are the negative thoughts going on in the mind. Meditation will help you gain more control over your thought life, inviting more positive thoughts to run the show.

  1. Look for the Silver Lining

This may sound a bit cliché, but there is a silver lining in just about everything. Even in the toughest of times, there are usually valuable life lessons that can be learned.

  1. Get into a Solution

If you know that you can fix something by taking action, do it. If you just think about things and never take action, things will certainly stay the same.

  1. Laugh

Kids laugh all the time and they feel happier much more often than adults. Laughing is important and therapeutic. Watch some funny videos, get with friends and family and laugh. The deep belly laughs are the best and as you do this more often, you’ll notice you just feel happier.

  1. Let Music Uplift You

Take some time daily to listen to the type of music that inspires and uplifts you.

  1. Invest in Reading Encouraging Books

Take some time daily to read literature that inspires and motivates you. Even if you don’t like to read, there are devices that will read books aloud to you. While you’re driving, listen to what will pump you up and make you feel happier.

  1. Affirm Yourself

Spend some time daily affirming yourself by stating positive things about you out loud. Feel your confidence and spirit rise as you declare your beauty, power, kindness, and just awesomeness in general.

  1. Do What You Love

Spend some time daily doing what you love. Yes, we all have tasks that aren’t so pleasant, but we all have things we love to do too. Like dancing? Put on some music and dance in the living room. Like yoga? Roll out the mat and get to stretching. Like coffee with friends? Call them up and invite them out. When you spend time doing what you love, you’ll just feel happier.

  1. Nurture Yourself

Spoil yourself each day. Give yourself permission to nurture and receive. You’re worthy. Paint your nails, get a massage, eat your favorite dinner, etc. Treat yourself well.

  1. Be Kind to Others

When we take time to give to others, we simply feel happier. Give a compliment, spend some time with someone, and give a token of appreciation. There are many ways to give to others, so consciously spend some time daily doing this.

You can experience more happiness on a daily basis. Take these tips into consideration and implement them into your daily life. After all, you deserve to feel happy.
